This is funny.
There is a very old thread (with old and recent posts) with the same concept: Armor pieces drop from certain high-areas (like the southern shiverpeaks on). And that thread got a lot of /signs. This thread however, is getting mostly /notsigns. Interesting.
I guess the unique stats idea ruins the concept? If the Armor acts like Common Armor, i.e. the AR is set to the profession type, and the armor is auto-customized, then there won't be as many disagreements, probably the same amount of agreements as in the old thread. I should probably find out what happened to that thread... some other time.
/signed for concept of armor dropping from bosses. /notsigned for the unique stats. Have them set up the same as Common Armor but a different way of getting them. Of course, auto-customized for who they drop for.

I believe at least some of the discussion in the past was done regarding "unqiue" armour pieces, like the destoryer gloves. Having something like this drop every now and then from a boss is an ok idea. However what the OP is talking about is basically the whole, let's make armour in GW like armour in every other MMO. Part of the reason a lot of us like GW is that things like armour are not treated like every other MMO.

They didn't bother modeling new armour for GWEN do you think they will do that for every monster in the game?
Besides armour is one of the major goldsinks of the game so...

You ALREADY have.
They drop 'indirectly'. You have to collect trophies for those.
Why? Because armor is not like weapons. Anyone can hold a hammer, but only a dwarf can wear a dwarf armor.
